Tony Canino was born in Houston, Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in Public Affairs News Reporting from American University in Washington, D.C.
In Washington, he covered financial and business matters for a news service with clients worldwide. When he returned to Texas, he covered federal and state agencies for the Beaumont Enterprise and Journal.
He then switched to the corporate side, joining Shell Oil Company as a writer and, later, as a member of Shell’s emergency response team, primarily as a company spokesman. He then moved to Anadarko Petroleum Company as its Manager of Public Affairs.
His last job–and by far his best–was as Mr. Mom for his young daughter Anna, now an adult working in Marketing for American Express in New York City. His wife, Mary, is a founding partner of MBR Financial in Houston.
Tony Canino began writing creatively about ten years ago. Prior to that, he had to make a living.
